Why NowPayments

The broadest coin support of any provider here — 300+ currencies — at 0.5–1%, which is a fraction of a card rate. Settlement is non-custodial: the coins go to your own wallet, and NowPayments never holds them.

Signup is self-serve, so this is the quickest way to start accepting crypto.

Before you start

Set your payout wallet in NowPayments first, under Settings → Payments. Without one there is nowhere for your money to land.

Where to get the two values

NowPayments API key — account.nowpayments.io → Settings → API keysAdd new key.

IPN secret key — account.nowpayments.io → Settings → Payments, in the Instant Payment Notifications section. Generate the secret and copy it. This is what kitty uses to prove an incoming payment notification really came from NowPayments.

While you are on that page, paste kitty's webhook URL (see below) into the IPN callback URL field.

Connecting

Settings → ConnectionsTake payments → the NowPayments card → Connect → paste both values → Save and connect. Test connection reports how many currencies are enabled on your account.

The webhook, which is not optional

kitty needs NowPayments to tell it when someone pays. Without that, the checkout takes the money and no order, customer or revenue figure ever appears in kitty.

On the connected card, press Webhook URL, copy it, and paste it into account.nowpayments.io → Settings → Payments → IPN callback URL.

Treat that URL like a password — anyone holding it can post events at this venture. It never expires; you rotate it by disconnecting and reconnecting. Deliveries are capped at 300 a minute per venture.

What happens if a customer underpays

Crypto customers sometimes send slightly less than the invoice — a fee estimate, a rounding error, a mistake.

kitty records what actually arrived, never the asking price. If it cannot work out the settled amount in your own currency, it records nothing at all and tells you to enter it by hand from your NowPayments dashboard. That is deliberate: an invented figure in your revenue is far worse than a missing one.

What it can and cannot do here

One-off payments only — there is no card to bill again, so no subscriptions and no failed-payment recovery. Refunds are handled in NowPayments; kitty records them.

After it's connected

Test connection proves the key works right now, and names the account it reached — so a member with two logins can see they pasted the wrong one. Do that before you put anything on sale.

Then, in Where new checkouts go, pick this provider on its own or One page, every method, which offers every provider you've connected on a single page and quietly hides one that starts failing.

Anything already on sale keeps the provider it was armed on. A price, once created at a provider, cannot be moved — so to switch, open the venture's Revenue tab, Take off sale, then put it back on sale.

How the keys are stored

Encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM, used server-side only, never returned to the browser, never written to a log, and never shown again after saving.

Payment keys are scoped to a venture or the whole workspace, never to you personally — two businesses in one workspace settle into two different bank accounts, so a personal key is refused for money on purpose.

Frequently asked

Where do the coins actually go?
Straight to the payout wallet you set in NowPayments. Settlement is non-custodial — neither NowPayments nor kitty ever holds your funds.
What if someone pays less than the invoice?
kitty records the amount that actually arrived. If it cannot determine that in your currency, it records nothing and asks you to enter it by hand rather than guessing.
Can I take a crypto subscription?
Not through kitty. There is no card to re-bill, so crypto providers here are one-off payments only.
