Change or confirm your email address

Changing it

Settings → Profile → edit the Email field → Save changes.

As soon as you edit the address, a Confirm your password field appears. It is required, and the note beside it says why: "Changing your email signs out your other sessions, and the new address needs confirming before it counts."

Three things happen on save:

1. Your other sessions are revoked (the one you're using stays).
2. A confirmation email goes to the new address.
3. Your account is marked unconfirmed until you click that link.

If the new address already belongs to an account, you get "That email is already in use."

Confirming

The email is subject "Confirm your email for kitty.build" with a link reading Confirm this email address. It works once and expires after 24 hours.

Signing in still works while unconfirmed — confirmation is not a gate on using kitty.

Resending the link

The Profile page shows "This address hasn't been confirmed yet" with an inline Send a confirmation link. You can send 5 per hour; past that you are told to check your inbox and try again later.

If a link expired, just send a fresh one — old outstanding links are invalidated when a new one is issued.

A shortcut worth knowing

Completing a password reset also marks your email confirmed, since you demonstrably read that inbox.

Changing where kitty emails you

Your account email is where account mail and morning reports go. There is no separate notification address today.
