Invite teammates and set their roles
The four workspace roles and exactly what each can do, how to send an invite, and how to change or remove someone later.

Sending an invite
Settings → Workspace, then the Invite to this workspace card — visible only to owners and admins. Type their email, pick a role, press Invite.
Three things can happen:
- They already have a kitty account — they are added to the workspace immediately and no email is sent. You will see "they're in the workspace now".
- They're new and mail is configured — an invite email goes out, and a copyable link is shown as well in case you would rather send it yourself.
- Mail isn't configured on this deployment — nothing is sent, and you are given the link to pass on.
The invite email is subject "<you> invited you to <workspace> on Kitty" and the link expires in 7 days, single use. Pending invites are listed with their expiry and a trash button to revoke.
The four roles
| Can they… | viewer | member | admin | owner |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| See the member list | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| See ventures | Only their own and ones granted to them | Same | All | All |
| Read a venture's data | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Create a venture | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Run analyses, chat, edit | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Delete a venture | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Set connector credentials | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Invite people, change roles | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Billing and plan changes | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Grant the owner role | No | No | No | Yes |
Two rules that surprise people:
- Whoever creates a venture effectively owns it, whatever their workspace role.
- The last owner cannot be removed or demoted. Promote someone else first.
Changing a role or removing someone
Same page, the Members card. Owners and admins get a role dropdown on each row (not on their own). Removal is the trash icon at the end of the row; on your own row it becomes a leave icon instead.
Only an owner can hand out the owner role — an admin trying gets told so explicitly.
Accepting an invite
The invited person lands on a page headed Accept your invite, fills in Name and Password (at least 8 characters) and presses Join kitty.build.
If the invited address already has an account, they are told to sign in and ask an admin to add them instead — which is what the immediate-add path above does anyway.
What a workspace shares
Everything: ventures, the plan, Treats, and the limits. Billing belongs to the workspace, not to a person. See plans and limits.
Frequently asked
- How long does an invite last?
- 7 days, and it can only be used once. Revoke and re-send from Settings → Workspace if it lapses.
- Can a member see everyone's ventures?
- No. Members see only ventures they created or were specifically granted. Admins and owners see all of them.
- I'm the only owner and I want to leave.
- Promote someone else to owner first — the last owner is deliberately protected from removal and demotion.
